The New Croft Foundation is delighted to announce the launch of the Sporting Memories Group, a new weekly initiative designed for locals over the age of 50 to come together, share their passion for sports, reminisce about sporting days and enjoy a vibrant social atmosphere.
Set in the welcoming environment of The New Croft, this group aims to foster friendships, stimulate memories, and engage in fun sports-related activities. The Sporting Memories Group is free to attend, made possible by a generous contribution from Colin Grogan, Project Manager of Public Health & Communities at Suffolk County Council.
This weekly group is part of a broader effort to enhance community engagement and support the mental and social well-being of the elderly in our community through the universal language of sport.
Each session will feature a mix of activities including sports quizzes, games, light physical activities tailored to suit all abilities, and plenty of time for participants to talk sports and share stories from their past sporting experiences. This group is not just about remembering the great moments in sports history, but also about creating new joyful memories.
Lois, Head of The New Croft Foundation, expressed her excitement about the new group: “We are thrilled to launch the Sporting Memories Group here at The New Croft. Sports have a unique way of bringing people together, sparking conversations, and triggering fond memories. Thanks to Colin Grogan’s support, we can offer this wonderful opportunity for our community’s seniors to connect and enjoy their love of sports in a friendly, engaging setting.”
The group meets every week and invites all sports enthusiasts over 50 to join. Whether you are a former athlete, a lifelong sports fan, or simply enjoy talking about sports, the Sporting Memories Group promises to be an enriching experience.
