The New Croft Foundation is absolutely delighted to share the fantastic news that Ruby Grey has been selected for the England Darts Girls Youth Squad for 2025! As a local youngster, Ruby’s incredible journey through darts has been nothing short of inspiring, and we are immensely proud to be supporting her as she continues to make strides in the sport.
Ruby’s journey in darts began just three years ago when she started playing locally with her dad. The duo entered a mixed pairs tournament and, in an early sign of her immense talent, won the competition. From there, Ruby progressed rapidly, representing Haverhill Ladies before earning a place in the Suffolk Youth County team.
Her impressive performances saw her quickly rise through the ranks, moving on to represent the Suffolk Senior Ladies B team before progressing into the Suffolk Ladies A team. Along the way, Ruby competed in several high-profile tournaments, including the English Open, and is now the current WDF English Open title holder. She also holds the position of being ranked number four in the WDF world rankings for U18 girls.
Ruby’s selection for the England Girls Youth Squad is a testament to her hard work, dedication, and outstanding ability. She secured her place in the squad by excelling in the England Grand Prix events, where she finished in first place. This achievement means that Ruby will be representing England for the first time in March 2025, followed later in the year by an appearance at the Darts World Cup in South Korea.
Her journey does not stop there, as Ruby will continue competing individually throughout 2025, entering WDF tournaments across the UK and Europe in pursuit of enough ranking points to qualify for the Lakeside event at the end of the season.
Adding to the excitement, Ruby has also received the incredible news that she has been selected as one of six female youth players to attend the JDC Girls Power League. This elite opportunity, which showcases some of the leading young female players in the world, begins this weekend in Coventry and runs alongside the Girls JDC Series. The final two players in this competition will have the chance to play on the famous World Matchplay stage in Blackpool, a dream opportunity for any aspiring darts star.
Speaking about her recent achievements, Ruby said: “I am extremely excited that I have managed to achieve my goal this year of gaining a place in the England Youth Squad. I am looking forward to the experiences that brings and playing in the World Cup in South Korea. To now also have been selected for the Girls JDC Power League, I feel is another massive achievement. I cannot thank my sponsors and the local community for their continued support, as without them, I would not be able to reach my goals.”
At The New Croft Foundation, we are incredibly proud of Ruby and her achievements. We will continue to support her every step of the way and cannot wait to see what the future holds for this extraordinary young talent.
Congratulations, Ruby – we are all behind you!
